SoundSphere Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 4, 2026
SoundSphere does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no ads, and no remote code.
Audio
All audio processing (volume, equalizer, Voice/Bass modes) happens locally in your browser. Audio is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.
Settings stored on your device
SoundSphere saves only its own preferences: volume per tab, mode, equalizer values, and options such as the badge and overdrive. These are kept in your browser's extension storage. If browser sync is turned on, your browser (Google or Mozilla) may sync these preferences between your own devices; the developer never receives them. Per-tab volumes are cleared each time the browser starts.
Permissions
- activeTab, tabs: control the tab you choose and list tabs that are currently playing audio (title and icon shown only in the popup).
- storage: save the preferences described above.
- Access to websites (Firefox only): adjust the page's audio and video players on the sites where you use SoundSphere. Page content is not read or collected. The Chrome version requests no website access.
- tabCapture, offscreen (Chrome): process the selected tab's audio locally after you use the popup.
- declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess (Firefox): when you boost a tab whose audio is served from another domain without CORS headers, SoundSphere adds a CORS header to media responses in that tab only, so the audio can be processed locally. The rule is removed when the tab closes and never outlives the browser session.
No data obtained through these permissions leaves your device.
